Powers (Jack) is born in Boston.

Jack Powers grows up in the Orchard Park public housing development at 25 Ambrose Street, graduates from Cathedral High School, and attends Northeastern University. He moves to San Francisco, and joins the beat poetry scene centered around Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s City Lights bookstore. Powers returns to Boston, lives for many years on Beacon Hill, and founds the Stone Soup Poetry Series in 1971.* Powers spends the rest of his life promoting poetry, music, and other forms of performance art. He dies on October 14, 2010.
